đ Blog: Why Supplements Aren't The Whole Solution
(But a Piece of the Puzzle)

Supplements can be a game-changer for your health. They can improve your sleep, boost your energy, and help you feel like yourself again. But hereâs the truth: supplements are not the whole solution.
Iâm a big advocate for supplementation. Iâve had health issues flip from night to day in just a few weeks thanks to targeted supplementation. But supplements arenât here to save you. They can help, yes, but only if you use them in the right way, and that starts with understanding their purpose.
Why Supplements Arenât a Magic Fix
The wellness industry wants you to believe that the answer to all your health problems can be found in a bottle (usually an expensive one). But hereâs the thing:
Supplements are a band-aid solution. If your levels of Vitamin D, Iron or Magnesium are low, you can feel better by taking supplements, sure. But that doesnât answer the real questionâŠ.
WHY are your levels low in the first place? Are you not getting enough nutrients from your diet? Is your body struggling to absorb what you eat due to gut issues? (And yes we talked about Vitamin D and modern lifestyles in The Supplement Scoop, but if your levels are chronically low then sunlight may not be the culprit.) The point is to get curious and ask why.
Howâs your gut? Ah, the trending question these days. But the truth is that nutrient absorption does start exactly there, in the gut. And if you gut health is trash, then all the supplements in the world wonât do you much good.
The Real Question: Are You Doing the Basics?
Before you spend your money on a drawer full of expensive supplements, ask yourself:
How much water are you drinking every day?
Have you checked your blood levels of key vitamins (if youâre having symptoms of deficiencies)
Are you âeating the rainbowâ - a variety of colorful, nutrient dense food?
Are you moving your body - and not from the desk chair to the sofa!
And howâs your sleep?
Because if those foundations arenât solid, supplements are just putting a band-aid on a deeper issue.
The Unpopular Answer None Of Us Want To Hear
If youâre lifestyle isnât right, no supplement or detox will swoop in and magically fix your fatigue, brain fog, bloating, migraines, etc. etc. etc.
The truth is, true health is built on foundational habits. Supplements are there to support you, not save you.
What Can You Do?
Hydrate well.
Eat the rainbow.
Move your body.
Prioritize quality sleep
and thenâŠ.LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!
What is it telling you? Where is it tired, sore, angry, anxious, upset and uncomfortable? You donât need a degree to listen to your body and advocate for yourself. You just need to willingness to learn and the courage to act on what you learn.
And yes, if needed, supplement! I love my supplements. I habit stack those vitamins so well that James Clear would be proud! But hereâs the thing - health isnât about how many bottles you have lined up on your shelf or how consistent you are at taking them. Itâs about building a life that supports your well-being from the ground up. (Dare I say the ârootsâ - my thoughts on this trending âroot cause movementâ will be coming soon!) Supplements can really help, but foundational health starts with listening to your body and giving it what it truly needs.
